Lisa Robertson, who has also been working at a Sydney brothel, was to have been the star of the British I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here show being filmed on the Far North Coast.
Producers axed the 39-year-old on the eve of the show and confirmed they had been bombarded by telephone calls and emails from Aussie locals complaining of her inclusion.
She had been signed to the show a month ago but producers had been overwhelmed with concerns about her image and feared her manner would ruin the show's reputation as a family program.
"Lisa would have been compulsive viewing what with her seedy past," a program source told London correspondent Charles Miranda.
"But I'm a Celebrity is enjoyed by all the family and her stint on the show might have meant a few awkward questions being asked about the program makers' judgment."
The show is due to begin filming in three days with a number of UK personalities arriving on the Far North Coast where they will live on a purpose-built set.
There they will be asked to eat crocodile genitalia and partake in a series of other "outback jungle" challenges.
