Responsible travel on the rise

An increase in volunteer tourism was among the emerging trends uncovered in this year's Country Brand Index survey.

The survey of 2600 international travellers found more travellers were planning their trips around humanitarian purposes, including working at refugee camps, teaching English and participating in animal conservation research.

The array of volunteer holiday options was also growing to meet that demand.

The survey also found more importance was being placed on accountability, with travellers pushing airlines and hotels to minimise their environmental impact through schemes such as carbon offsetting. - Travelpress travel news
