just a pointer to anyone planning on hitting up waikiki - plan on eating a lot of american grease unless you jump a cab or a bus and head outta town. found a cracking wine bar (well restaurant that specialises in wine anyway). At a place called Vino in an area known as Restaurant Row on ala moana boulevarde. you'll find it when you get one of the local tourist maps. good thing is the tourists dont seem to have foind it. def worth the trip, food was good (AND surprisingly cheap!) and the vino good. definitely head there when you tire of the cheeseburgers in waikiki...
There's a good club called Pearl too above the ala moana shopping center that the boys at aussie escape filled me in about - yes, its a mall but hey work with me here. Best club we found whilst we were there and not written up in the tourist mags so at least gives a feel for what the locals do when they head out.
