More than 100 Ministers will be asked to consider and ratify a declaration during a Tourism and Climate Change Summit in Switzerland today.
The Ministerial Declaration, recommended by environmental experts, will then be put to the UNWTO's General Assembly at the end of November.
The declaration will be a major aspect of the organisation's submission to the United Nations Bali Climate Summit in December 2007.
UNWTO Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli said the world community had charged the United Nations with framing a strategic response to the challenge of climate change and the declaration would offer the commitment that tourism would be at the leading edge of the global response to the issue. - Travelpress travel news
