The South of France, the cote d'azur is a great place to visit...especially round the Cannes film festival time..if you dont like crowds and like peace & quiet, dont go to this part of France..But i love it...it feels like there is always something happening all along the coast. From Cannes to Monaco its well & truly an amazing coast. I lived in the next village towards spain, Mandelieu..lovely little place. You can see Cannes from the port in Mandelieu & you also have a 180 degree view of the islands off Cannes. Overlooking the village is a beautiful castle a few centuries old..each year they hold the playboy party there for all the playmates from the playboy Mag...thats a pretty good site to see also...
The coast line will always be busy, even in the winter..Many many yachty's, so for sure you will find many english speaking people in the local irish pubs..but watch out for the local french people..round there, if you dont speak french, they dont want to know you!!!!...so at least try & speak a little french, it will go a long way!!!!..Monaco around the formula one time is awesome..the night before the race you can drive the circuit & find some of the fastest & most expensive cars in the world...they are all there.,....plus all the celebs..but also, half an hour in-land & you can find a b&b for 50 euros and feel like you are in the middle of no-where, so keep that in mind..the coast has many things to offer!!!
