I went to Hong Kong with my wife last october...It was nothing like i had imagined..didnt really know what i was in for..but it was certainly different....For starters everything seemed somewhat futureistic for me..there were sky scrapers everwhere...as far as the eye could see.....I was amazzed when I went to New York, but man they have some big buildings there...
I found it hard to eat there..not that they didnt have western food, but i couldnt eat anything off the streets...i was just a little sceptical about if it really was chicken...does that sound bad??thats how i felt...and every restaurant was lit up with neon lights, so it made me feel like we were eating at a food court from a shopping mall, and we all know that aint the highest quality food going round...but that was minor with the food....I am definately happy that we decided to go to Hong Kong, but I am not in any rush to go back...the smog in the city was something bad...at the end of the day from walking around i felt like a had a huge lather of black soot on my face....it was disgusting...the night show which they have evey night at 8pm was amazing...talk about reducing the amounts of energy used...how the hell are normal citizens making a difference with changing to energy efiicient light bulbs..that place would use so much energy every single night...was amazing to look at thats for sure...but thats outta control!
The culture there is very different than what i imagined. Mostly people were very friendly on the street...I did feel safe there. I felt safer walking at night more than I do now where I live in Perth!
On the whole, a very eye opening experience. Very glad I went there but wouldnt hurry to go back...but thats just me....
